ELIE ZOE’ – Shifting Forms

“I like to visualize the spaces created by places that make me feel good. In them, I can transform, stretch time, feel that my breath isn’t so far fromthe tides moving with the moon. And sometimes, disappear.Could it be that dead wood is actually a vital force in the creation of life? Are the moths in my kitchen here to help me eat better? Does the wolf choose to kill the deer, or is it the deer that invites the wolf to do so? Whatremains when beings die? Does my grandmother sometimes speak with my voice?I think, by writing this song, I’m answering those questions—at least a little :we’re shifting forms, we’re all at once, yet to be born a thousand times” – elie zoé

About the video:

« we had three days to imagine, shoot, and edit the video for “shifting forms.” A unity of place with “change my name” and “dormant plants” brought us back to the same spot, in a pine forest up in the mountains. i wanted to convey how our perceptions change over time, depending on where we are and who we’re with. i also wanted to use very DIY effects: simple morphing and lenses placed in front of the camera to play with the light and shift the focus.

by the end of the second day, we still didn’t have any footage we were happy with, because the colors were lacking due to the cloudy weather… until just before the sun slipped behind the mountains, giving us 15 minutes of perfect light to shoot all the scenes! » – elie zoé
