ELIE ZOE’ – The Whole of the Moon

Swiss artist elie zoé releasesthe fourth single / video “the whole of the moon“, a rock-driven gem and last single to be unveiled before the release of their upcoming album “shifting forms” on October 10th 2025 on Humus records (LP, CD, Digital – Pre-order:  https://www.deathwishinc.eu/collections/humus-records/products/elie-zoe-shifting-forms  ) – Private streaming and download links of the new album “shifting forms” available in this email below. The artist has just annouced a european tour with Swiss legends The Young Gods this fall (Gigs listing below).

In “the whole of the moon”the guitar-and-drums duo—elie zoé’s musical heartbeat—is pushed to its very limits here: Luc Hess’s (Coilguns, Beurre) raw, incisive drumming soars throughout the verses and choruses, reaching its peak as it drives the entire instrumental section. elie zoé’s earthy electric guitars ride atop it all like a rollercoaster.  The track has been recorded and mixed by Louis Jucker, mastered by Johan Meyer (Gojira, Grammy Awards 2025).

About the single “the whole of the moon” & video (artist comment):

it’s a song i first started writing in 2022, then set aside and picked back up in 2024, during the album’s writing phase. the first verse was already written, in ‘she.’ i wondered why, since i usually take care to avoid gender markers in the lyrics of my songs. then one night, after hesitating betweenrewriting everything or abandoning the song all together, i suddenly woke up around 3 a.m. and understood: this is a song i was writing for Emilie Zoé.from that moment on, everything was clear: this song is about reconciliation—it celebrates and gathers everything we are, everything wehave been, and everything we will be. ” – elie zoé

About the video:

«  we began adapting the songs so they could be played live as a duo with drummer Fred Bürki. we had fun documenting the process, and i used this  footage to create the video for the track. editing it carried me back and forth between 2025 and 2014, when i remember us meeting for the first time and already sharing the same joy of playing together. as if past, present, and future no longer really made sense » – elie zoé
