THE HYBRID DRUMMER DUO – Thrills

The latest underground tech-house single Thrills by The Hybrid Drummer Duo – Máté Jancsovics and Gábor Domonkos – is out now, accompanied by a live music video. With the release, the live electronic duo once again proves that there is room for experimentation even in the minimal house/techno genre – the track is mostly in 7/4 time, yet it is still for the dance floors.

“Since the kick drum keeps pumping, you don’t trip up while dancing, just feel the accents shifting back and forth. The momentum keeps building, and at the ecstatic climax, when the female vocals come in, this feeling gets boosted even more and pushes you to your boundaries,” says drummer Máté Jancsovics about the track.

According to the act, this intelligent tech-house track, built on a driving bass guitar, twists the rhythm in unexpected directions while keeping people on the dance floor. The groove pulls you in, and the catchy vocals further elevate the flow. It builds slowly but surely toward an ecstatic peak, where the math no longer matters – just that you move. Bassist Gábor Domonkos on the track:

“Thrills was our first attempt at an odd time signature, and to be honest, I struggled with it at first. The predominantly 7/4 rhythm doesn’t allow for playing on autopilot. I had to pay much closer attention to the drums. In the end, that’s exactly what made it one of our most exciting tracks.”

The Hybrid Drummer Duo delivers high-energy live shows that blend hybrid drums and effected bass guitar with tech-house, techno, and heavier club styles. Structured like a DJ set, but performed entirely live, the duo keeps full control of the flow. As the energy builds, the music shifts toward harder, faster territories. Banging, deep basslines and drums elevate the audience into near ecstasy. The songs of their previous EP, EH AH have been added to more than 40 Spotify playlists, while the music video of the title song has finished third place in the Best Narrative category on the Berlin Music Video Awards.

The final polish of the track is thanks to mastering duo Márton Fenyvesi and Miklós Kovács, while the video has been created by Imre Steiner (Baseframe). You can find the track on all streaming platforms and the video on Youtube.
